Ann St. Community Garden is owned by the Brighton Center and comprised of 90 raised garden beds. Wooden frames are designed in long rows with each participant getting a 4 feet by 8 feet plot. Community members are able to sign up for plots and for a small fee they have access to plots with rich composted soil, seeds and plant starts, irrigation, education, and community pot lucks.
Sidestreams, provides seeds, plants, irrigation equipment and other supplies to Ann St. as well as consulting, resources and volunteers.
Gardeners “own their own plot,” but are encouraged to harvest from 24 common plots, which allow them to supplement their diet with additional vegetable varieties they don’t have room to grow in their own bed. This garden is supported by an innovative arrangement with the Campbell County Detention Center production garden, two blocks away.
